7th Grade Writing
Ms. Smith
October, 2008
The seventh graders are currently working on an essay for a contest
sponsored by the American Legion. The essay contest title is: Where
are the American Heroes of Today? The students had to choose three
places where American heroes can be found today (such as in
hospitals, schools, and the army), and then they had to support
their choices by providing reasons as to why the people found in
these places are heroes.
While writing this essay, we have explored various writing
components including attention getters, thesis statements, topic
sentences, supporting sentences, and transition words. The students
are almost done with the writing process. They have gone through
prewriting, drafting, and editing, and are now on the revising
step. The final draft will be due on October 3rd.
After the American Hero essays, we will begin the grammar chapter on
pronouns. In this chapter we will explore the following types of
pronouns: personal, possessive, intensive, reflexive, interrogative,
relative, and indefinite. |
