They also thanked the directory committee for the speed in which it was put together and distributed to school families.

Committee Reports

Sharon Williams (Angel Gift) is looking for a co-chair as this is her third year. School families donate a monetary gift to teachers and staff at Christmas in lieu of Christmas gifts. The total amount given is divided amongst the teachers and staff. A Christmas tree outside the multi-purpose room is hung with angels acknowledging the donating families only, dollar amounts are not listed. A teacher’s breakfast will be hosted by the PA the morning of Angel Gift distribution this year.

Sue Gibbons is chairing Art Volunteer in the Classroom (AVIC) for grades k-6thagain this year. She is working on co-coordinating a trip to the Art Institute this year

Tricia Durkin set up the September Birthday Board and Julie Mulchrone will set up the October Birthday Board.

One Book Fair will be held this year instead of two and will be held from Nov. 5th-9th. Anderson Books will co-ordinate and supply the books, teachers will be asked to supply a wish list for each class/grade. (Laura Dragich, Janet Schwartz, Karen Reilly)

Nina Salamone is chairing Celebrate SJC Day (formerly Fun Day) for the fifth time. This is held the day before the last day of school for k-7. The event has been renamed in an attempt to mesh some sort of service project with a picnic into the day’s planning. This year the kids will be kept on campus or at the park, there will be no movie trip.

Kathy Cooney will chair Catholic Schools Week which is set for the last week of January. Events include an Open House with a PA welcome table, Spirit Day, a Teacher’s Luncheon,

Etc.

A BIG THANK YOU to Anne Kelly and Donna Andreotti for putting together the Green School Directory which went out to SJC families. The two have also put together a calling tree which will be implemented for school emergencies and inclement weather. The calling tree will be added onto the PA page of the SJC web site.

Please forward news of illness or death re SJC school families that you become aware of to Pam Conlon or Kathy Cooney (Good Will). The PA has two masses said during the year and special intentions are asked for on behalf of these families and their immediate relatives.

Connie Madden, Maura Abernathy and Fran Karas are running MANNA this year. SJC families can buy certificates for participating goods and services through a MANNA order form. A percentage of these purchases are donated back to SJC. A percentage of what an SJC family buys during the year will go towards their SJC tuition. MANNA is always looking for volunteers.

Gerry Reisch is chairing Market Day again. An order form is sent home every month or families can order on line. Pick up is once a month at the parish center for prepackaged foods. A wide selection in bulk quantities! A percentage of the total order is given back to SJC. Gerri is always looking for volunteers as well….great way to meet other parents and the commitment is only once a month!

Cindy Pembroke asked that we remind parents to recycle their market day boxes. It was recommended that boxes used that day for shipment of items from the wholesaler be recycled as well.

Betsy Sullivan is chairing New Family. An ice cream social for kindergarten families was held over the summer. She is working on a new family tea TBA.

Shari Minik and Betsy Sullivan are chairing Room Parents. Kathy Hussey is chairing 8th Grade Special Events (7th/8th grade info night, confirmation lunch, 8th grade video, awards night, parish center graduation party.)

Colleen Koerner is the 8th grade Confirmation co-coordinator.

Mary Beedie will chair school pictures, check the web site for dates.

Gayle Joyce Halm chairs School Supplies, thank you for another great job this year!

The Social Committee will host a pajama party and a November wine tasting event. They have also initiated Food for Thought…local restaurants sign up for specific days on which a percentage of their proceeds earned by SJC families will be donated to the school. The Sandwich Factory participated this summer; McGann’s will be the November restaurant!

Thank you to Amy Pacella, Val Moody, Karen Gordon, Maureen Chopp and Pam Ward!

Check the SJC web site for special lunch days. Kim Sebastian, Debbie Peterson and Patti Krug are chairing this committee. Room Parents are responsible for signing up volunteers for each grade on their assigned days.

Colleen Koerner reminded everyone that all volunteers must be Virtus trained, there will be no exceptions….the bottom line is the ensured safety of our children.

Kim Sebastian will talk to Cindy Wheeler about recycling the pizza boxes.
